"Friends Of The Founding Fathers" Conservative Group Holds First Meeting In Mesquite, Nevada On January 14th, 2010

A new conservative, constitutionally-oriented group called the "Friends of the Founding Fathers" held their first meeting ever in Mesquite, Nevada on January 14th, 2010. The Mesquite Local News published a detailed report on the agenda. This appears to be a serious group worthy of support; as many as 300 people attended the meeting.

But the real reason for this post is because the group doesn't yet have a website. Consequently, those who want to know more would have a difficult time finding information about the group. Not to worry - four of the organizers laid out the mission statement and goals of the organization in detail, and the Mesquite News reported it almost verbatim. So as a substitute for their missing website, I will replicate this information below, as it was presented:

Four of its organizers: Theron Jensen, Dr. Leo Black, Art Hammerschmidt, and Bo Bingham.

Mission Statement: ...the Friends of the Founding Fathers is a nonpartisan, conservative organization dedicated to preserving, protecting, and enhancing the tenets of individual liberty, individual responsibility, and free enterprise as envisioned by America's founding fathers and as set forth in the U.S. Constitution for the benefit of our children and ourselves. Based on the principles of limited government, we believe that individuals, families, and communities, not bureaucrats and professional politicians, have the inalienable right to control their own lives within the framework established by the Constitution. We believe that the rights of man come not from the generosity of the state but from the hand of God. We believe that the hard work, generous spirit, and the faith of the American people have made this country great and are essential to preserving the goodness of this country and our freedoms.

Core Principles:

-- Freedom of speech, including religious speech and public prayer
-- The right to bear arms
-- Limited federal government and the preservation of the rights of the states and of the people
-- Fiscal responsibility at all levels of government
-- Strict interpretation and construction of the Constitution
-- Traditional family values and marriage

Candidate criteria every voter should examine before casting their votes:

-- Experience in management and business decision making
-- Ever held a position in government
-- Voting history
-- Ever been a lobbyist
-- Who are their consultants and advisors
-- What organizations they're affiliated with
-- Track record on Constitution
-- Who is influencing them now

Actions for citizens to take:

-- Vote
-- Get active in your community
-- Form TEA parties
-- Write to elected officials
-- Hold elected officials accountable

The group also appears to support term limits for elected officials, though no specifics were provided.

Contact information for the group was not provided. Perhaps the Mesquite Local News can be of assistance to anyone in Southern Nevada who wants to contact the group. This post will serve as an unofficial and unaffiliated substitute source of information on this group unless or until it puts up its own website.

To turn our country around, we must permit individual interests and not community interests to dominate. Obama, Democrats, socialists, liberals and everyone on the left wants to share the booty from America saying community is most important. SAVE THE PEBBLE DROPPERS & PROSPERITY, found on claysamerica.com, tells how America did so well in the first place, and shows us how to repeat the process of regaining our prosperity. America has drifted into meaningless altruism to the point we cannot earn our way back and focusing on individual interests as described so well by Ayn Rand. Claysamerica.com
