In a very auspicious beginning to the Obama Administration, new President Barack Obama flubbed the Presidential Oath, and the broadcast media gave him a free pass. The Christian Science Monitor and the New York Times were some of the few mainstream media outlets to report it; Hal Turner also jumped all over it.
Each president recites the following oath, in accordance with Article II, Section I of the U.S. Constitution:
"I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States."
Listen to President Obama butcher it. He jumps the gun and starts to recite it before the Chief Justice can administer it, which obviously rattled Chief Justice Roberts enough so that he administered it slightly out of order.
Update: As a precaution, President Obama re-took the oath on January 21st.
You just know that had George W. Bush flubbed the oath, the broadcast media not only would have been all over him, but they would have openly laughed at him on the air.
Yes, change has come to America alright, and so far, it's not a change for the better.
