The Best Friends Animal Society in Kanab, Utah is rapidly achieving the reputation as being the premier last resort for unwanted and abused animals. They've recently made the headlines not only for accepting 22 of Michael Vick's fighting dogs, but also offered Democratic Presidential candidate Barack Obama one of their dogs as well.
And now the facility is preparing to take on another "mission impossible". The facility has agreed to accept two dogs that authorities say were trained to have sex with women. A mixed breed and a Labrador, formerly owned by Diane Sue Whalen (pictured at left) of Tulsa County, Oklahoma, have been accepted by Best Friends in Kanab, Utah, and will be taken to the no-kill sanctuary in August. Whalen, 54, and Donald Roy Seigfried, 55, were charged with felony crimes against nature after Whalen's adult son found more than 150 tapes of his mother performing sex acts with them. Seigfried was accused of filming the acts. The dogs were placed in the Tulsa Animal Shelter following the arrests. Whalen relinquished custody of her dogs, but Seigfried is fighting to maintain custody of a third dog used in the videos, a blue heeler named Merlin. Seigfried maintains he wasn't involved in the filming.
Whalen's dogs — named Lucky and Buddy — were examined and neutered at a Tulsa veterinary clinic after the arrests. In Utah, the dogs will become candidates for adoption. As for Whalen and Siegried, they're scheduled for a preliminary hearing on August 5th.
An Oklahoma blogger named Irritated Tulsan was particularly irritated by this news, so he chose to relieve the irritation by posting a comedic piece called "20 Signs Diane Sue Whalen May Be Your New Neighbor".
Can you imagine how Whalen's son must feel? How would you feel if you found 150 tapes of your mother getting her freak on with Rin Tin Tin? Freaking gross. I'm glad the dogs aren't to be put down. I think Whalen should be put down instead.
